Phyto has been bringing plants into hair care since 1969. Created in France by hairdresser Patrick Ales, the brand offers shampoos, conditioners, leave-in creams and styling sprays built around botanical extracts, for hair that looks healthy, soft and full of life.

Phyto: Botanical Hair Care Created by a Hairdresser

Phyto began in 1969, when hairdresser Patrick Ales, credited with inventing the blow-dry technique in 1964, set up the Phytosolba laboratories to make hair care formulated with plants. From the start, these plant-based hair products were sold in pharmacies, and the Phytosolba name was later renamed Phyto. More than fifty years on, plants are still at the center of every formula, with a botanical extract chosen for each hair need. Today Phyto covers dry, damaged, fine, oily and blond hair, as well as the scalp, with lines such as Phyto 7, Nutrition, Repair and Volume.

Key Phyto Product Lines

  • 7 Elixir Universal Day Hair Cream: A leave-in cream with white mallow, calendula, rosemary, sage and burdock extracts that nourishes dry hair without weighing it down and tames frizz.
  • Nutrition Nourishing Conditioner: Jojoba oil and white mallow extract detangle and nourish dry hair without weighing it down.
  • Repair Shampoo for Damaged Hair: Gently cleanses and restores damaged, brittle hair with Keratin A18+, a plant-based keratin made from lupine protein and black oat extract.
  • Volume Volumizing Styling Spray: Water lily extract and organic white mallow lift the roots of fine, flat hair for lasting volume without a stiff feel.

Key Ingredients and Technology

White mallow extract is the common thread of the Phyto range: it appears in shampoos, conditioners, leave-in creams and styling sprays, for soft, easy-to-comb hair. Each line then adds its own botanicals. Phyto 7 combines plant extracts such as calendula, rosemary, sage and burdock to nourish dry hair every day. The Repair line relies on Keratin A18+, a plant-based keratin made from lupine protein and black oat extract. Nutrition uses jojoba oil for dry lengths, while Volume turns to water lily extract to give fine hair more body. The result is a complete routine, from wash to styling, in which every step speaks the same botanical language.
