The Herbiolys story starts in 1998, on a mountain plateau of the Cevennes. While picking wild plants, botanist Gerard Ducerf steeped fresh plants in a glass jar of water and alcohol, and found the preparation was a bright green. After six years of work with a group of 15 botanists, seven plant professionals founded the brand in 2004. The laboratory is based in the Hautes-Alpes, a region with an abundant, varied flora and 300 days of sunshine a year, on a 5-hectare site with an arboretum of 200 species. Most of its plants are picked in the wild, far from sources of pollution, and its herbalists and botanists work across the Pyrenees, the Alps, the Massif Central and the Jura.

Every Herbiolys plant and bud extract starts fresh, never frozen. Plants and buds steep on the picking site as soon as they are harvested, and each solution is dynamized by hand. Each fresh plant extract above contains 3% fresh organic plant in organic gluten-free grain alcohol and low-mineral spring water, at 19% alcohol by volume. Since 2019, an alcohol-free bud line steeps the buds for three weeks in spring water, grain alcohol and plant glycerin, then evaporates the alcohol at low temperature. Every product carries the French AB organic label and the Nature & Progres label, the extracts are suitable for vegans and made in France, and the laboratory holds ISO 9001 certification.
